Through Colour Rendering Services

We specialise in through colour monocouche rendering and external wall insulation systems.  We do this using Weber, K Rend and Parex products.  Our one coat rendering has both a decorative and architectural finish.  This is applied to the exterior or interior of building facade structures, providing both decoration and weather protection.  Whether it’s a commercial or residential property, a new build or a refurbishment, we have a solution and a system suited to your needs!

The term "Monocouche" literally translates as "one-coat".  It has been adopted by the European cement render industry to distinguish modern renders and their application methods from traditional more renders.  This is regarded as a more advanced render formulation, as it can be applied in one coat to form and cure as one monolithic layer on the elevation of a building.

The Monocouche Rendering System we use are designed for weatherproofing external vertical concrete blocks or brick masonry walls.  However, it can also be used for external or internal decorative renders. We have an extensive knowledge of all specialist render products, and can apply this by hand or machine as recommended.

How is Through Colour Rendering Different?

On any building, the most common areas of stress are around doors and windows.  This is where cracking is most likely to occur. With over 18 years of industry experience, we have the knowledge and technical ability to render any building to the very highest standard possible.   Each of our renders are designed to be breathable and flexible.  We apply a special glass fibre mesh fabric around every opening to strengthen the most susceptible areas of a building.  We also apply Plastic Render Beads closely matching the colour of the render, including the Corner Bead, Stop Bead and Movement Bead.

It’s main difference to traditional, sand and cement renders is that through coloured gives a crisper and cleaner finish.  It is also water repellent and less likely to crack, which allows your building to “breathe” at the same time.  If  any moisture is trapped in your wall cavity, the render will allow any moisture it to escape , allowing your building to breathe and NOT retain any moisture that could turn into damp.

Although monocouche is more expensive than basic sand and cement rendering, the application is a lot faster than traditional methods. External monocouche renders can be applied as one coat (depending on the receiving wall substrate) rather than two.  This saves you both time and money, as you don’t need wait for the render to dry and be painted, and the scaffolding can be taken down sooner.  The colour will also last longer than most masonry paints. You will also save a large amounts in the long term, by not having to incur repeated scaffolding and decoration costs in future years.

Low maintenance

Yourself or the future proprietor can clean the render with the commonly available ‘hobby’ style pressure washer and suitable detergent, should the need ever arise. Some properties, even those close to town centre environments, have not required attention for over 10 years.  As with all decorative surfaces, the actual maintenance period is very reliant on the local atmospheric conditions and the quality of architectural detailing.

Thin Coat, Silicone and Self-Cleaning Renders

Unlike monocouche renders, which are coloured using mineral pigments, we are able to get literally any RAL colour thin coat or silicone render manufactured to order.  Thin-coat acrylic and silicone flexible renders are particularly suited to large projects where maintenance is or could be an issue.  More often than not, thin-coat acrylic and silicone renders are applied on to external wall insulation systems.  They are also suited very well to refurbishment projects where substrate cracking has been an issue in the past, coupled with a base coat and full mesh acrylic and silicone renders out perform any other system as they have “self-cleaning” abilities.

Thin-coat acrylic and silicone renders are available in a number of different aggregate size finishes, compromising of 1.0mm to 6.0mm depending on the manufacturer but start to lose there “self-cleaning” abilities the higher the aggregate size.  In addition the thin-coat acylic & silicone flexible systems are indeed crack-resistant.  Coupled with high polymer-content base coats and alkali-resistant mesh reinforcement these systems are of the highest specifications, previously mentioned these external rendering systems can be applied to brick, block and ICF (Insulated Concrete Formwork) new-builds and refurbishments.
